Please check student planners for warm-ups. They were given during homerooms, if lost please contact the counselors office.  These warm-ups will help to study for the unit tests. If you have questions throughout the year, please contact their teacher.

Box Tops

The History Department collects Box Tops for education.

Level

Students study the history of Texas from early times to the present. Content is presented with more depth and breadth than in grade 4. Students examine the full scope of Texas history, including the cultures of Native Americans living in Texas prior to European Exploration, the Eras of  Mission building, Colonization, Revolution, Republic, Statehood and Modern Texas. The focus in each era is on key individuals, events, and issues and their impact.

Pre-AP

The goal of the advanced program in Texas History is to maintain a broad perspective that encompasses social studies and to provide an opportunity for in-depth studies. Advanced students see relationships among many different approaches and ideas, and the study of social studies, rather than only history, encourages this. The expectations of the students will be more independence, creative thinking, and higher-level concepts than that of a regular class.

There is a MANDATORY History Fair Project. The topic changes each year.  It follows the guidelines set by the National History Fair.  National History Fair Website:http://www.nhd.org/Contest.htm

We will begin the second week of school and will conclude a week before the 2 weeks grading period.
